Coastal Flood Warning
Statement as of 2009. gada 01. decembris plkst.21:42
... Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 am CST Wednesday...
A coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 am CST Wednesday.
Southeast winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph... with occasional gusts possibly around 40 mph overnight tonight... becoming south then southwesterly by Wednesday morning. Astronomical high tides between 1 and 2 feet occurred across the region earlier this evening... and as the winds become more onshore overnight... these water levels will subside slower than normally. Considering this... total tide heights could range from 3 to 4 feet with a few areas possibly experiencing near 5 feet west of Pensacola. Total tide heights further to the east... generally from Navarre Beach to Destin... could range from 2 to 3 feet.
These tides will likely cause inundation over the west end of Dauphin Island... around the western and northern shores of Mobile Bay that are prone to coastal flooding... and along the immediate coast from Fort Morgan Alabama to Fort Pickens Florida Tuesday night and Wednesday. In addition to the high water levels... a large pounding surf with breaking waves of 10 to 12 feet will be likely from Destin Florida to ft Morgan Alabama.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water... and take appropriate action to protect life and property.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until noon CST Wednesday.
A strengthening low pressure system over the western Gulf will move northeast toward the north central Gulf Coast tonight.
